Can't wait for Week 2, Lady Scientists!
Glad to meet everyone last week! We introduced the class, and began an experiment to mummify an apple (Try This!, p. 21). You ladies used for the first time a triple-beam balance (scale) which is pretty challenging so GOOD JOB!
When you come back to class, you are going to weigh each of your apple slices and figure out which set of chemicals worked the best to mummify your apple! Anyone want to make a guess? Let me know on the Discussion Digest at left if you have an opinion! Remember Mr. Thrifty? Well in Monday's class we are going to get to know him better, along with Tall Paul and Sweet Sue! Tall Paul and Sweet Sue are both going to show us how all the body organs fit ever so neatly and tightly in the thoracic and abdominal cavities.
