About Emily Morales
|
I graduated from California State University, Fresno, summa cum laude with a B.S. in Molecular Biology and minor in Cognitive Psychology. During my undergraduate tenure, I had opportunities to conduct research in fields as diverse as genetics, microbiology, behavioral and cognitive psychology, immunology, and scanning tunneling microscopy. This research experience was transformative, instilling analytical and critical thinking skills that would follow me to this day, together with an appreciation for many fields of scientific inquiry.
Having completed a Master's in Instructional Design and Technology at University of Cincinnati, as well as a Certificate in Christian Apologetics from the Talbot School of Theology at Biola University, I hope to do three things:
I currently teach high school level general chemistry, organic chemistry, introductory physics, advanced physics, and fiber arts. In the past I have also instructed and developed curricular materials for high school level biology, pre-engineering courses, and drawing realism. In the summer of 2019 I was accepted into the Discovery Institute's Seminar in Intelligent Design program in Seattle, and was treated to nine days of high level science proffered through authors Michael Behe, Stephen Meyer, Ann Gauger, Luke Barnes, Richard Sternberg, Jonathan Wells, Jay Richards, Guillermo Gonzales, J.P. Moreland, and Brian Miller. Requiring two months of reading in advance from many books and peer-reviewed science articles, the seminar left me accepting - based upon the objective evidence - the necessity for a designing intelligence, in the creation of the Universe, the Earth, and origins of life. As a past Darwinist (having an extensive evolution library of nearly one hundred books), this evidence was crucial - having provided much in the way of design arguments I could not refute.
